Seven Wonders Of Hell

SEVEN “WONDERS” OF HELL Matthew 10:28 Not merely a sensational title. There is NOTHING wonderful about hell: But, many “wonder” about it. Following are seven questions, or “wonderings” about hell.

I. I WONDER IF THERE IS A HELL?

A. Ideas of men Vs. the Truth of Jesus

1. Jehovah’s Witnesses say “Hell and grave is used to represent the same place”

2. Others may believe that a fiery hell did not originate with God’s word, but “the translators described hell in a way all the people could understand, and dread: fire and brimstone”

B. What Does the Bible Say? (Matthew 3:11-12)  (11)I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire:  (12)  Whose fan is in his hand, and he will throughly purge his floor, and gather his wheat into the garner; but he will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire. (Matthew 23:29-33)  (29)Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! because ye build the tombs of the prophets, and garnish the sepulchres of the righteous,  (30)  And say, If we had been in the days of our fathers, we would not have been partakers with them in the blood of the prophets.  (31)  Wherefore ye be witnesses unto yourselves, that ye are the children of them which killed the prophets.  (32)  Fill ye up then the measure of your fathers.  (33)  Ye serpents, ye generation of vipers, how can ye escape the damnation of hell [gehenna, EDR]? (Matthew 25:31-46)

II. I WONDER FOR WHOM HELL WAS MADE? Originally, the Devil and his angels (Matthew 25:41) [see above] Now, Reserved for ALL wicked (Revelation 21:6-8)  (6)And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely.  (7)  He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.  (8)  But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death. (2 Thessalonians 1:7-9)  (7)And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels,  (8)  In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ:  (9)  Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power; 1 2

III. I WONDER WHAT HELL WILL BE LIKE? (Matthew 13:41-42)  (41)The Son of man shall send forth his angels, and they shall gather out of his kingdom all things that offend, and them which do iniquity;  (42)  And shall cast them into a furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth. (Revelation 20:11-15) (Revelation 21:8) [see above]

IV. I WONDER WHEN HELL WILL BEGIN? (John 12:44-50) (Acts 17:29-31)  (29)Forasmuch then as we are the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Godhead is like unto gold, or silver, or stone, graven by art and man's device.  (30)  And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent:  (31)  Because he hath appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom he hath ordained; whereof he hath given assurance unto all men, in that he hath raised him from the dead. (2 Corinthians 5:9-11)  (9)Wherefore we labour, that, whether present or absent, we may be accepted of him.  (10)  For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad. (11)Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord, we persuade men; but we are made manifest unto God; and I trust also are made manifest in your consciences. V. I WONDER IF THOSE IN HELL WILL BE CONCIOUS?

A. We Have a description of the lost in the Hadean world. There is no reason to conclude that their state of being will alter after the day of judgment (Luke 16:19-31)

VI. I WONDER HOW LONG HELL WILL LAST? (Revelation 14:11) And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever; and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name. 3

VII. I WONDER HOW I CAN AVOID SUCH A PLACE? By OBEYING the Gospel of Christ (Hebrews 5:8-9)  (8)Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered;  (9)  And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him; (1 Peter 1:13-25) (Romans 2:1-12) (Revelation 14:12-13)  (12)Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.  (13)  And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Write, Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them.

VIII. CONCLUSION “In the Lord”…how did they get “in the Lord” ? They Believed that Jesus is deity, the only begotten Son of God (John 8:24) They Repented of their sins (Acts 2:38; Acts 17:30) They Confessed their faith in Jesus (Matthew 10:32-33; Acts 8:37) They were Baptized (immersed) in water INTO Christ (Galatians 3:26-27) They were faithful to Jesus all their lives (Revelation 2:10; 2 Timothy 4:6-8; 1 John 1:5-10)
